ToneDen Alternatives You Should Consider Now
ToneDen shuts down on December 1, 2026
If you use ToneDen, you need one of the ToneDen alternatives below before December 1, 2026. That’s the day the standalone ToneDen platform (toneden.io) shuts down. Your smart links, pre-saves and social unlocks stop working. Your account data gets deleted.
ToneDen itself says: “There’s no direct ToneDen replacement.” So you have to pick one.
I’m John, founder of Hypeddit. I also release music as John Gold, so I know what it means when links you’ve shared everywhere suddenly break. This post covers what breaks, how to choose a replacement that won’t disappear on you, and how the main ToneDen alternatives compare. Yes, Hypeddit is one of them. I’ll be clear about where it fits and where it doesn’t.
Only ToneDen accounts connected to Eventbrite (for event organizers) keep working. If you’re a band or music artist with a regular ToneDen account, this affects you.
What happens to your ToneDen links, pre-saves, gates and ads
- Smart links (FanLinks, StreamLinks, BigLinks, TourLinks, PodLinks and more): stop working, including links on custom domains.
- Pre-save links: stop working, even for releases coming out after Dec 1.
- Social unlocks and contests: stop working. Fan data is deleted after Nov 30.
- Playbooks (Spotify Growth, Instagram Growth): automation stops, but the ads keep running and spending in your own Meta or Google account.
Your ToneDen ads won’t switch off by themselves. Pause them in Meta Ads Manager or Google Ads if you don’t want them running unmanaged.
November 30 is your last day to download your data, including fan contacts. On December 1, every ToneDen link you’ve shared goes dark: your bio, your website, your emails and any QR codes.
Free music tools keep shutting down
Most artists used ToneDen because it was free. That’s exactly why this hurts. When a free tool shuts down, you don’t just lose the tool. You lose every link you ever shared, and you rebuild from scratch on someone else’s deadline. ToneDen isn’t the first. Songwhip’s free smart links went dark in 2024 after the company was sold to Sony Music. The Artist Union, a free download gate platform, gave artists 9 days’ notice before it shut down in 2020. The pattern is simple: if a tool doesn’t make money from the features you use, those features are the first to go when the owner’s priorities change. Free saves you a few dollars a month. In return, you take the risk of dead links in your bio, your old posts and your QR codes, plus the hours it takes to rebuild them. So before you pick a free ToneDen alternative, ask one question: how does this tool make money? If the answer is “it doesn’t,” plan on moving again.
How to choose a ToneDen alternative
You don’t want to switch twice. Check each option against this list:
- Does it cover what you used ToneDen for? Smart links, pre-saves, download gates and ads, ideally in one place.
- Is it built for musicians? Generic link-in-bio tools don’t do pre-saves or download gates.
- How does it make money? A tool that earns from the features you use is more likely to keep them.
- How long has it been around? Years of track record beat a shiny new launch.
- Do you own your ads and data? Ads should run in your own ad account, like they did on ToneDen.

- FanLinks and StreamLinks β Smart links
- BigLinks (link in bio) β Artist links (for Lifetime Fans)
- Pre-save links β Pre-saves, plus Lifetime Fans: fans who pre-save once get your future releases saved automatically
- Social unlocks β Download gates and link gates
- Spotify Growth Playbook β Ads Autopilot: music ads on autopilot in your own Meta ad account. It also grows YouTube views, YouTube subscribers and TikTok audiences
What Hypeddit doesn’t replace: TourLinks, EventLinks, PodLinks, contests and Instagram Growth campaigns.
Hypeddit also offers fan promotion on the Hypeddit Top 100 Charts, which ToneDen never had.
How to switch before December 1
- Download your ToneDen data. Do it by November 30, especially fan contacts from pre-saves and contests.
- List the links you still use. Find them under Smart Links in ToneDen. Focus on your latest release, your bio link and any upcoming pre-saves.
- Recreate them in your new tool. On Hypeddit, paste your song’s link and set up a smart link, pre-save or download gate.
- Swap every link you’ve shared. Social bios, your website, email signatures, active ads and printed QR codes.
- Check your ToneDen ads. In Meta Ads Manager, pause anything you don’t want running after Dec 1, or move your Spotify growth ads to Ads Autopilot.
- Using a custom domain? Remove the DNS records pointing to ToneDen at your registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.). Then, set them up in Hypeddit.
